Medicare Supplements (Medigap)

Medicare coverage is both confusing and has lots of gaps, that's why so many Medicare recipients add Medicare Supplements (also known as Medigap plans) to make sure they are protected.

Everything you would need to know about Medicare is in the book published annually, called 'Medicare and You'.  If you want to look anything up that is mentioned on this site, just click on the image to the right.

Medicare Supplements are standardized plans created by Medicare.  They come in different 'flavors' (Letters A,B,C,D,F,G,K,L,M, and N).  The most comprehensive plans are Plans F & G and, in most cases, these are the plans of choice for my clients (some prefer Plan N because of cost considerations)
There is a big change coming in 2020-Plan F will no longer be available to anyone entering Medicare as of January 1, 2020.  For everyone already on Medicare before 2002, however, Plan F is still a standard plan.

The only difference between, for example, a Plan F from Company A and a Plan F from Company B is the cost, there is no other difference.  How do we know this?  It's on page 71 of the 2020 'Medicare and You' Guide

My clients always know the lowest cost plan offered my a major insurance company in their area and rates are reviewed annually by me to make sure this is always the case

The chart of the benefits for each plan is above (right), if it looks complicated, don't be concerned, I can explain the differences in a few minutes
